This is only the second month I have gotten a Lip Monthly subscription.  Last month April 2016 I was so unimpressed that I thought I unsubscribed but I guess I didn't because I got another bag this month May 2016.   I will admit, I am glad I didn't cancel because I was truly impressed with this month's bag.  

Lip Monthly sends you mainly lip products except for one product that is NOT a lip product. This month we got a fantastic Jor'el Parker mud mask.  It smells good to me, but I am a mask-oholic so it does not take much to impress me with mud mask.  Is that a word mask-oholic? *laughs*.  It is a gross green but the benefits totally out ways the color.  

We got three lip products: the first one is by Dirty Little Secret which I have never heard of before. The lipstick goes on soft and creamy and was not drying at all. As you have heard me say many times I have started applying a loose powder over my lipstick to make it last even longer.  So when I wore this lipstick it lasted all day.  I am actually wearing it in my YouTube Video. I am very impressed with the color pigmentation.

Another lip product we got is So Susan-Jello Shot.. it is an all natural product that has the lasting power like nothing I have seen.  It takes a very long time for the color to disappear.  I have seen some reviews that talked about this color dried pinkish on them.. for me it is more of a coral color. Regardless, it stains your lips no doubt! 

The third lipstick we got is by Manna and not only was the color a beautiful plum color it is also a stain that last for a long time.  The formula is creamy and your lips do not dry out at all. The color is very pigmented and the formula does not go on patchy.

Here is something I have learned... although I was not happy with Lip Monthly last month, and actually thought I cancelled my subscription but did not, I am actually I didn't. So my lesson learned with makeup subscriptions is at least try to stick with them two-three months.. because you never know until what theme they will have next month!

Drug Store Brand Lipstick Series-Part One

It appears that lately I have been researching so many lipsticks that I wanted to share with everyone things I have found I really like, and things that get a total two thumbs down. So throughout time, I will be writing short reviews about different lipsticks I find.  Starting with this little jewel by Rimmel London.

First I just wanted to start by saying, how adorable is this packing? I mean, seriously, these little lips on the packing sets it off.  Another thing I really like is the name of the color is also printed on the tube. Many lipsticks do not have the name of the color on the package, and others have the name on the tube on the bottom, and the print is so small it is hard to read. 

Rimmel London Provocalips is a liquid lipstick that last 16 hours.  The tube has a sponge applicator that is doe foot.  The tube also has two products, one end is the lip color and the other end is lock and shine balm.  Both ends are marked, Step One and Step Two.

The formula of this provocalips is creamy, soft and light.  My first thought was, there is no way this could be a lasting color lipstick.  It takes just a minute or two for it to dry and when you achieve the color you want (One coat does a beautiful job-but you may want it darker) apply the step two which is the lock and shine. This is when I realized this lipstick was going to last. When I applied the lock and shine, NO product came off on the brush.. NONE!!  

I have been wearing this lipstick for a couple of hours at least now, and it is looks and feels as good as it did when I first applied it. The 'feel' of it on your lips is unreal.  It remain creamy feeling, light and is NOT drying on your lips.  The color I have is called "Wish Upon a Berry" and it is a matte finish.  Yes, I will be adding additional colors to my collection.  The lipstick cost $6.99 online.. when I find it in the store, I am almost positive it will be the same price. Right now though.. Ulta.com is having a special if you purchase one at $6.99 you get 50% off of the second one. THAT deal will not be in the stores I am almost sure of. 

I am giving Rimmel London Provocalips a thumbs up and on a scale of 1-10 An Easy "10"

Revised:  I ended up liking this lipstick so much I got me another two shades from Walmart. Walmart's price ended up being $6.47

Kat Von D, One of my favorite Lipsticks

I have loved Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lipstick for a while now. They never seem to let me down. I know once I put them on, they will stay, they are never heavy and hard on my lips.  Sometimes, you can wear a long-wearing lipstick and your lips feel like you have an anchor tied to them, not to mention they dry out and crack! Not these liquid lipsticks, they are fantastic!!

I believe she has about 28 different shades, anywhere from light to extremely dark and vampy!!  Each lipstick is long-wear, full coverage, great pigmentation, and never drying to your lips. My favorite part, each color dries matte. These liquid lipsticks are infused with vitamin E and sunflower seed-if you have never tried any of these lipsticks, you need to put it on your list of things to get. I can almost promise you will love them!

Lets Play with Lipstick

Okay, so here is the deal, just like my cooking, I always have to switch things around and create something new and different. Now it appears I am doing the same thing with my lipstick.  Yes, I have a ton of shades I love, but have you ever just had that day when you wanted something different, something unique, something nobody else has???  This is my story....

See that shade of lipstick in the picture?? Well, the other day I mixed three different shades of my lipstick together and came out with a great color.  Did I take a picture? NO!! Is this the same shade as I had the other day? NO!!  In this picture, I mixed the same three shades of lipstick together that I wore the other day, and YET the colors are slightly different! However, I sort of dig this shade too. (smiles) 

Maybe it was the lip liner.. because I do not remember what color I had on the other day. Anyway my formula for this color:  First apply Maybelline Superstay 24 lip-color in Continuous Coral after it dries add a coat of: Revlon Colorstay in the shade: Constantly Coral, and once that is dry add: NYX Liquid Suede Tea and Cookies!!!

Beauty Haul April 01-2016

Give me a lipstick and I am a happy girl!

First Blog post about my beauty hauls!!  I will be sharing a beauty haul every Friday starting with today April 1, 2016.  Since I just got in a few new lipsticks, I am going to start there because I mean, come on it is Spring, we need fresh new bright colors, and I will use any excuse to get a new lipstick!!  So here we go..... 

Kat Von D-Everlasting Liquid Lipstick-BELOVED

I am a HUGE fan of Kat Von D- everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. I have many colors.. one day I will do a blog post just on her lipsticks. Anyway, this beautiful BELOVED is a light coral color with a pink undertone (at least on me). To me, it is a perfect Springtime Shade that I know I will get a lot of use out of! These lip colors are very long wearing, you do have a few seconds to make any corrections before it sets.  Her lipsticks never feel heavy or dry... they are among my favorites!

Ciate Liquid Velvet - PinUP

I am very NEW to this company. I have never used their products before.  When I choose this color 'Pinup', on the swash it looked like it had a bit more pink to it, it is described as a rich berry.  But berry tones to me have blue undertones and for some reason this color has a warm undertone.  I will admit, the lipstick feels fantastic on your lips. It is soft and the formula is creamy.  It is a long-wearing lipstick and it holds up pretty good. Not as good as some of my others but all in all, I would purchase additional colors! It has a unique applicator that makes putting it on easy for me. But it is not your regular kind of sponge applicator. 

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick - Angeles

Again, I am new to this brand of lipstick. In one of my BoxyCharm boxes I got a banana powder of theirs and loved it.  But this is the first time trying their lipstick.  First and foremost, the formula is so soft and creamy it is hard to believe it is a liquid lipstick. Now, when I looked at the color swash, to me it looked like a goldish platinum color.  In reality it is a like a frosted campaign color. I used a dark liner, because without it, the color did nothing for my complexion. It almost washed me out. Not real sure how I feel about the color, I may see about returning it.  But I will say I love the formula. Since I just got them in the mail today, I have not had a chance to know how long lasting it is.. but it feels great on my lips.

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick - Laguna Beach

Again, I am new to this brand, but love the formula so much. It is so creamy and light.  It feels SO good on your lips.  I am liking this color Laguna Beach. It is light a medium mauve color, with a warm undertone on me.  I am pretty pleased with the way it goes with my complexion. It would make a good springtime color, perhaps to wear on a cruise or at the beach!!

                                       
                         

Lipstick Addiction Can it be?

Lipstick, oh my goodness. Is enough, ever going to be enough? I am starting to believe the answer is no. No there will never be enough lipstick in your collection EVER...  I did a Google search to see approximately how many different shades of lipsticks there are, one of the answers was something like 14,588 shades.. that is considering that each lipstick company has approximately 30-50 different shades. Now stop and think about this for a moment, if there are 14,588 approximately different shades of lipsticks, does that come to close to the amount of lipsticks each of us have in our own collections? Let's NOT even forget about our lip liners, lip balms, and other lip products!!

What I am thinking is if there are 14,588 different color lipsticks, there  has to duplicates. Same shades different names?? There are a ton of red color lipsticks, think about it, there is red lipstick with yellow and/or warm undertones, red lipsticks with blue and/or cool undertones-that is a huge amount in and of itself-and that is just red lipstick shades.  I read that women have been wearing lipstick for over 5000 years. Now back in time they did not have tubes of lipstick like we do, they would grind minerals, fruits and so on and apply that to their lips.  But still, we are talking about a huge amount of lipsticks from many different sources!

Okay, is it possible I am making excuses as to why I cannot seem to avoid the lipsticks online and/or in the store?  And once I find a brand I like-Goodness knows I just have to have a lot of the different colors!! TWO huge examples.. I love, love LASplash lipsticks! I have written articles and reviews on their products. They are long wearing, do not dry out your lips, etc, etc, etc,.  Than NYX Liquid Suede Lipsticks... omg!! I cannot get enough of them. So here we are again, right back where we started.. is it possible to be addicted to lipstick? YES!!! My opinion only but I truly believe like everything else, we can be addicted to lipstick too.

Look at this way, as each season changes, our complexion changes, therefore we need to embrace the seasons too with lighter colored lipstick, med tone color lipsticks, bold color lipsticks for the winter months.. it is endless. WE NEED to change our lipsticks as the season changes too. OH, MY, GOODNESS!! Another freaking excuse, right?

Springtime is the south, is almost like summer. But still in the spirit of spring along comes new clothes, new makeup, and of course new LIP colors!!

So you wonder....if you are use to wearing nothing but rich, dark, bold colors, and you try to do a transformation into light, soft spring colors, where in the world do you start?

To be very honest with me, it actually started out experimenting with nude lips. I know, I know... it was a little hard for me honestly. The first time I tried putting on a nude lip, I kept messing it with and soon ended up with one of my dark, rich, bold color lips. So what I did was I did a nude lip, hurried and took a photo and posted it online to get people's opinion. No, I am not the type to seek out approval or ask permission.. opinions can be good sometimes if presented the correct way.  Once I did my nude lip and posted it, I got a good response and all leaned towards the nude coloring. After playing with nude shades for a long time (it seems) I am now a Nude Colored person.

After the nude colors, I wanted to add a softness, and what better represents softness than pink tones. This has really been a fun for me because I do like pink a lot. BUT I will always and forever be a matte girl so LASplash's RoseGarden velvet was perfect for me! So after playing and falling in love with several different pink shades....

I wanted to really go out there and tried some coral colors!! Okay, I really like the corals, but I also love red lip-color as long as it has a yellow undertone.. red lipstick with blue undertones looks terrible with my complexion.  So yeah... I think springtime lip colors has bloomed in my collection.. want to see more?
